Unable to open project package in Trados on Mac Book

Hi, 
 I am using Trados Studio 2015 on a Mac Book Pro (via Bootcamp/Windows 8.1) and I cannot open any project packages (.sdlppx) in Trados. The error prompted claims that the name of the file or path is too long. But no matter how the project manager shortens the name, it still prompts the same error message. 
 xliff files with no package, as well as simple project files (.sdlproj) however can be opened with no issues at all. Only the packages won't open. 
 Does it have to do with me using a Mac Book, or does the error lie somewhere else? Any ideas?

If the message is the filename or path is too long then it's the combined name and path length which is the problem. Shortening the name won't help (unlikely to anyway). You need to make sure that the path to the files is not long as this is a windows restriction. Similarly the path to the files inside the package could also be at play here. If they are inside a nested set of folders then combined with the path you are using this could also push things over the limit. 
 
If you are unable to resolve this by saving the package at the root level of your folder structure then I'd suggest you add a .zip to the package you received and then you'll be able to look inside and take out the sdlxliff files in the target language folder. You can translate these files separately and then send them back to your Project Manager. But I'd recommend you discuss this with your Project Manager first.

I'm afraid you're limited by restrictions on the license now so there isn't a sensible way to work around this.
