Error "Sequence contains no matching element"

I use Studio 2021, and the source file is a ".docx".

When trying to generate the target translation, I got the message "Sequence contains no matching element". I don't have any comment in the project and I have verify that the source file doesn't have any XML hidden tag.

Could you please assist?

Thank you,

Diana

No, it gives the same error

It seems there is an issue with the document itself.

I'd do the following: split the Word document in 2, and open each in Trados Studio (again, without pre-translating) and then generate both targets. My guess is that probably one of them will be OK and the other one will throw the same error. Repeat again the process with the offending half-file, and after some iterations, you’ll find out the paragraph with something weird (a white square, a weird character…). I’ve done that with long documents (over 100-pages long) and it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. Then you can edit that paragraph in the source document.

Does the Word document come from a PDF maybe? If so, I’d ask the client for the source file; it’s always better than working with PDFs.

  • Hi Jesus,

I split the text but it gives error in the smallest pieces too. Is there any way I can attach here a sample for you to see the original doc?

Yes, insert the document here using the Insert > Image/File/File menu, and I’ll have a look at it.

In Trados Studio 2022 it works fine. Maybe another colleage can test it in Trados Studio 2021, your version...

For your information, this is the procedure I followed:

    • Drag and drop the docx into the Welcome screen
    • Select Translate as single document
    • Select EN to ES language combination
    • In Trados, select File > Save Target As
    • Rename the document appending ES.
    • It creates a document I can open in Word.

Apart from saving the target without changin anything in the target, I also pseudo-translated some segments, and I created the Word document without problem:
Screenshot of a document in Trados Studio with formatting tags visible around text such as 'Day 1', 'Minimum Security Requirements', and 'Learning outcomes'. Duration is listed as '90 minutos'.

Could you please test my procedure? In this way we skip any settings from your project settings.

  • Hi Jesus,

It doesn't work with Studio 2021. I have asked someone to try it with Studio 2022.

    Thank you,

    Diana
