I need to re-run the file analysis to exclude locked segments from analysis.

Hi RWS community,

I've got a small issue that bothers me: We are using Trados Studio templates for all our projects to be fast when creating our projects. In all of these templates the Exclude locked segments from analysis checkbox is checked as we want to not have them in our report as you can see below.

Screenshot of Trados Studio Project Settings with 'Exclude locked segments from analysis' option checked under Analyze Files Settings.

But each time I create the projects, the locked files are not excluded as you can see here:

Analysis report in Trados Studio showing various match types like PerfectMatch, Context Match, and Repetitions with their respective segment, word, and character counts.

Thus, I need to re-run the analysis after the project creation. After having done so, locked segments are excluded in the analysis. I don't really know why this keeps happening and that's why I am asking you for help. Slight smile

This is my default task sequence running each time when a Studio project is created:

Edit Task Sequence dialog in Trados Studio showing a list of selected tasks including Convert to Translatable Format, Apply to Target Languages, Copy to Target Languages, Pre-translate Files, Populate Project Translation Memories, and Analyze Files.

Does it have to do with my issue? Many thanks in advance for helping me! Slight smile

What kind of source files are you using?  The reason I ask is because adding anything other than an SDLXLIFF where segments could already be locked wouldn't work because the segments won't be locked until you open the files and decide which ones to lock.

Notwithstanding that, how can we tell from your screenshot that they have not been excluded?  The option you're using is "Exclude locked segments from analysis" which means they won't show up in the report... and they don't appear to have done that.

For example, if I create a project with an SDLXLIFF that contains locked segments and use "Report locked segments as a separate category" then I'll get something like this:

Screenshot of Trados Studio analysis report showing 4 locked segments, 58 words, 12.16% of the text, and a total of 23 segments.

So you can see I have 4 locked segments reported, from 23 in total.  If I now repeat using "Exclude locked segments from analysis" I get this:

Screenshot of Trados Studio analysis report with locked segments excluded, showing a total of 19 segments and 87.84% new text.

This time only a total of 19 because 4 are excluded.  But I'd never know unless I opened the file to check.

So perhaps you have just confused the options, or have different expectations of the behaviour?
