I need to re-run the file analysis to exclude locked segments from analysis.

Hi RWS community,

I've got a small issue that bothers me: We are using Trados Studio templates for all our projects to be fast when creating our projects. In all of these templates the Exclude locked segments from analysis checkbox is checked as we want to not have them in our report as you can see below.

Screenshot of Trados Studio Project Settings with 'Exclude locked segments from analysis' option checked under Analyze Files Settings.

But each time I create the projects, the locked files are not excluded as you can see here:

Analysis report in Trados Studio showing various match types like PerfectMatch, Context Match, and Repetitions with their respective segment, word, and character counts.

Thus, I need to re-run the analysis after the project creation. After having done so, locked segments are excluded in the analysis. I don't really know why this keeps happening and that's why I am asking you for help. Slight smile

This is my default task sequence running each time when a Studio project is created:

Edit Task Sequence dialog in Trados Studio showing a list of selected tasks including Convert to Translatable Format, Apply to Target Languages, Copy to Target Languages, Pre-translate Files, Populate Project Translation Memories, and Analyze Files.

Does it have to do with my issue? Many thanks in advance for helping me! Slight smile

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more information about the version of Trados Studio you are using, the operating system, and any recent changes or updates you have made to the software or system. Also, it would be helpful if you could share any error messages you might have received.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

From your description, it seems like you have correctly set up your Trados Studio templates to exclude locked segments from analysis. However, the issue might be related to the sequence of tasks that are being run when a project is created.

Here are a few steps you can try:

Step 1: Check your task sequence. Make sure that the 'Analyze Files' task is running after the 'Lock Segments' task. If the analysis is done before the segments are locked, they will still be included in the analysis.

Step 2: Check the settings for the 'Analyze Files' task. Ensure that the 'Exclude locked segments' option is checked.

Step 3: If your files contain Perfect Match units, you might need to enable 'Exclude Perfect Match units' as well. You can find this under Project Settings > Verification > QA Checker 3.0 > Segments to exclude.

Step 4: If none of the above steps work, try creating a new project template and see if the issue persists. There might be a problem with the current template you are using.

    Hello,

Thank you for providing the version of Trados Studio you are using. This helps in understanding your situation better.

Given that you are using Trados Studio 2021 SR 2 - 16.2.9.9198, the steps provided earlier should work as expected. However, if you are still facing the issue, it might be due to some other factors.

Step 1: Please ensure that your software is up to date. You can check for updates within the application.

Step 2: If the issue persists, you might want to try reinstalling the software. Sometimes, certain features may not work as expected due to installation issues.

Step 3: If none of the above steps work, please provide more details about the issue. Any error messages or logs would be particularly helpful.
