You can purchase an upgrade any time you want and process it at a later date.There is no deadline to processing the upgrade to Trados 2024.

Also, there is no obligation to purchase an upgrade, though it's recommended. Trados 2021 won't cease working starting next year. Ending the support means that we won't test or improve Trados 2021 and also that you won't be able to use the cloud version of Trados 2021 anymore. The desktop version will continue to work. I thought that, as of 31 December 2024, Studio 2021 would be in a retired state and there would be no upgrade path for Studio 2024 - so if I didn't upgrade before then, I'd have to buy the full version of Studio 2024 (rather than an upgrade) at a later stage. Isn't that correct? I'm happy to stick with Trados Studio 2021 for now if the only downside is loss of support and no access to the cloud version, but I don't want to lose the opportunity to upgrade if, from 2025 onwards, I would have to buy the full version of Studio 2024 instead. Can you advise?

The upgrade path from Trados 2021 won't be closed starting the 31st of December 2024. Most likely it will be closed sometime around the launch of a new version, but we do not have an exact timeline when that will be. We just launched Trados 2024 in June 2024.

In any case, if at a later point you want to upgrade to Trados 2024 and to benefit from a discount, you can purchase the upgrade and process it later, any time you want.

Hi Elisa! I'm jumping in here because I'd like to confirm this information now that we're in 2025. Can I still update to Trados 2024 if I have a 2021 version? When the 2025 version comes, will I be able to go from 2021 to 2024 or the path will be closed before the launch?

I do not have any information about the date when the upgrade path will be closed. Also, there is no info at the moment about a newer version. Trados 2024 has been launched in June 2024. You can still upgrade from Trados 2021 by using our online store: https://www.trados.com/pricing
