Upgrading TM from Trados 2022 to Trados 2024

Dear all,

My operating system is Windows 10, and I'm using Microsoft Office 365.

I upgraded from Trados 2022 to Trados 2024 and have installed and licensed SDL Trados 2024 successfully 3 days ago. Then I have been following the procedures in this link <Upgrading legacy file-based TMs from Upgrade wizard> to upgrade my TM, but have been facing a problem with it that I could not resolve.

I exported my TM files in Trados 2022 as TMX files, installed the Trados Compatibility and Migration Power Pack and TM optimizer. Upon clicking the Upgrade Translation Memories button, I received the attached error message.

Your help to resolve this issue and enable me to upgradeScreenshot of SDL Trados Studio with an error dialog box stating 'Could not load type 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Common.Licensing.LicenseUtils' from assembly 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Common, Version=18.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c28cdb264c54...' with an OK button. my TM is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your anticipated help.

Best regards,

Noha

Then I have been following the procedures in this link <Upgrading legacy file-based TMs from Upgrade wizard> to upgrade my TM, but have been facing a problem with it that I could not resolve.

My first question would be why are you doing this?  You do not need to upgrade SDLTM translation memories from one version to the next.  There is a mis-named feature in Trados Studio called "Upgrade" but this is just preparing a TM  to be able to maximise its use for fragment matching etc.  It's not needed to be able to work from one version to the next.

I exported my TM files in Trados 2022 as TMX files, installed the Trados Compatibility and Migration Power Pack and TM optimizer.

What you have done here is export your SDLTM to a TMX and are then trying to find a way to upgrade the TMX back to an SDLTM again.  This is something you don't need to do as you started with an SDLTM in the first place.  The "Upgrade" feature you are trying to use is in the app you tried to download but that isn't a process you really need to go through.

I received the attached error message.

I think this is probably because you have downloaded the wrong version of that app for your version of Trados Studio.  It makes sense for you to always take the app from the integrated appstore built into Trados Studio, and then you always get the right one:

Screenshot of Trados Studio with the RWS AppStore tab open, showing a search for 'compati' with one result highlighted: 'Trados Compatibility and Migration Power Pack' by Trados AppStore Team, described as a free app to support various compatibility and migration scenarios.

But do note that don't need to do this at all!
