How the suggested translations appear on the editor screen?

I am translating Japanese document into English. 
 I made Translation Memory from the Project Setting box. 
 But I get no suggestion of translation in the Editor screen while translating. 
 Why the TM does not work as an automatic translation?

If you created a translation memory, it is empty. Studio is a CAT (Computer Aided Translation) tool and not an automated translation engine. The translation is done by you, the translator and the TM helps you in that it stores all translations you have made and carries out a search in it to locate similar sentences while you translate, a bit as a kind of recycling. 
This means that in the beginning, you will not get any suggestions from the TM. But the more you translate, the more you will see scuh suggestions. 
 
On the other hand, you can also add an MT (machine translation) provider to your project, such as SDL Language Cloud or Google Translate, which will give you suggestions from these engines if Studio does not find anything in your TM. 
 
I suggest you look at the introductory tutorials to get familiar with the concept of Studio.

It does not work on individual words, but on a sentence basis. You only get a suggestion if Studio finds a sentence that is similar to 70 %. But you can also adjust this and lower the percentage. 
Also make sure that the checkbox "Update" is ticked for your TM.
