Trados crashed at specific segment

Hi,

My Trados Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.11.19134 crashed when I clicked Ctrl+Enter for saving a specific segment. I have enabled one server based and one file based termbase, the same settings for translation memories. I am trying to save "Varios Largos" from Spanish to Estonian. I have a fuzzy match of 91% ("ERI PIKKUSED") from server based termbase. I just need to change case to lowercase so that the final translation would be "Eri pikkused". After the necessary change and clicking Ctrl+Enter, Trados crashes.

After re-opening Trados manually, I managed to save the segment. Perhaps using "Quick Add New Term" is related to this crash? I used this feature for file based termbase for almost in every segment before crash.

I also want to note that the I am translating a project which includes many files and I have all of these opened simultaneously (in Files view I selected all files and clicked "Open For Translation").

I do not have Multiterm installed separately.

I hope someone can help,

Olav

  • I am experiencing the same problem. It happens more often after 'Quick add term' than after 'add term', so now I mostly use 'add term'. Whenever I reopen Studio and get to the same segment, confirming the segment makes Studio crash again. I can only confirm it by using the context menu and change the segment status. It look likes it's caused by Multiterm (which often stops working any way). As soon as I deselect the termbases, the problems doesn't seem to occur (as often). Unfortunately, I use Multiterm very frequently, so this error is most inconvenient.

    Jerzy, what is RAT?

    RAT = rapid add term

    Please follow the steps suggested above. Especially in your case: reorganize your termbases.

    For both of you:

    MultiTerm termbases can be opened in Microsoft Access, where you can use the "Repair database" command to repair them. Works quicker than in MultiTerm. However, I cannot tell, if this has the same effect as reorganizing in MT.
