How to process Adobe Photoshop 2025 file in Trados 2024

Hi, I need help.

I trying to translate a PSD file. I already follow the steps here: https://docs.rws.com/en-US/trados-studio-2024-1145319/configuring-adobe-photoshop-file-types-731040

But I've got an error.

Screenshot of Trados Studio project preparation with an error message indicating '1 messages reported' under 'Convert to Translatable Format'.

I also try to preview the PSD file but got this error message.

Warning dialog box in Trados Studio with message 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' and an 'OK' button.

Here's the layers in the PSD file.

Adobe Photoshop interface showing layers panel with layers named 'Beyond the hype:', 'halo blend', 'Auras Purple', and 'background'.

Thank you in advance!

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide the exact error messages you're encountering, the version of Trados Studio you're using, and any recent changes to your system or software. Also, let us know if you've tried any troubleshooting steps.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems like you're having trouble processing a PSD file in Trados Studio. The issue you're experiencing might be related to a known defect (CRQ-26559) that was fixed in Trados Studio 2021 SR2 and Photoshop version 22.2.0.

If you're using an older version of Trados Studio or Photoshop, I would recommend updating to the latest versions. Here's how you can do it:

    Step 1: Open Trados Studio.

Step 2: Go to the "Help" menu and select "Check for Updates".

Step 3: If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it.

Step 4: Do the same for Adobe Photoshop. Open the application, go to the "Help" menu and select "Updates".

After updating, try to process the PSD file again. If the issue persists, please provide the exact error messages you're encountering for further assistance.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • it worked! I think I just need to update the Trados and uninstall old versions of my Photoshop to avoid confusion.
