Why is reanalysis not possible when removing a file from a project in TE?

When a project is created in TE and then a file later removed, the analysis which shows in the project simply has the file removed and whatever analysis was present in the report is deducted from the overall analysis giving a remaining analysis. However, in the case where there was a high level of cross file repetition between the two files originally and then one of those files removed, the cross file reps are still present in the analysis, even if there's now only one file in the project.

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide the version of Trados Studio you are using and any error messages you may have encountered. Also, it would be helpful to know if you have tried any troubleshooting steps.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

The behavior you're experiencing is due to how Trados Studio handles analysis and cross-file repetitions. When you remove a file from a project, the analysis report deducts the analysis of the removed file from the overall analysis. However, the cross-file repetitions that were calculated when the project was initially analyzed remain in the report. This is because the analysis is based on the files present at the time of the analysis, and it doesn't dynamically update when a file is removed.

If you want to get an updated analysis without the removed file, you would need to reanalyze the remaining files in the project. To do this, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the "Files" view in your project.

Step 2: Select the files you want to reanalyze.

Step 3: Right-click on the selected files and choose "Batch Tasks" > "Analyze Files".

This will generate a new analysis for the selected files, without considering the removed file.

As for the cross-file repetitions, if you don't want them to be reported, you can disable the "Report Cross-file Repetitions" option. This can be done from "File" > "Options" > "Language Pairs" > "All Language Pairs" > "Batch Processing" > "Analyze Files". If you're using a project template, make sure to disable this option before creating the project.
