I can´t open Trados for Freelancer Version 2024, message: Service „Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagementService“ couldn´t be started.

Hi,

I was working in Trados as everything broke down. I made a restart, tried several times to open, with every time this message: Service „Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagementService“ couldn´t be started.
What could be the solution?
Help urgently needed, thank you very much in advance!

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more information about the steps you have already taken to resolve the issue, the exact version of Trados Studio you are using, and any recent changes to your system or software.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Anne,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Trados Studio. The error message you're seeing usually indicates a problem with the service that manages projects in Trados Studio. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Close Trados Studio if it's currently open.

Step 2: Navigate to the following path on your computer: C:\Users\%username%\App Data\Roaming\Trados\Platform\Identity. If you can't find this path, you may need to enable the viewing of hidden items in Windows File Explorer.

Step 3: Once you're in the correct folder, look for a folder named SDLTrados Studio.exe. Rename this folder to something like SDLTrados Studio.exe-old.

Step 4: Try opening Trados Studio again.

These steps should reset some of the settings in Trados Studio and may resolve the issue you're experiencing. If you're still having trouble after trying these steps, it may be necessary to reinstall Trados Studio.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • I tried this renaming with exe-old, but nothing happened. I have loaded the latest update, with a small change: Trados is "nearly" starting, but ends abruptly and nothing happens...

  •

    Please delete these folders:

    • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio18
    • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\18

Studio should start now. Please bear in mind, that all plug-ins have now been deleted, so install any desired plugin via Add-Ins -> RWS AppStore within Trados Studio.

  • Thank you Jerzy. This hasn´t unfortunately helped. My husband (and IT-expert) just made a radical deinstallation with deleting a LOT of old Trados files (what I would never dare to do as a "normal enduser") and the reinstallation was successfull...
Just for you to info (maybe relevant?): I was writing in Trados as suddently all the words within the edited segment got erased (as if I would press the Erase button) and Trados broke down after that.
I hope everything is now working well!!
    Have a nice evening,

    Anne
