Import a Excel-Dictionary into a Language Weaver Cloud Dictionary

Hi!
I'm a new user of Language Weaver Cloud and I created a new dictionary. I'd like to import an Excel-file dictionary into the Language Weaver dictionary (2 columns: Source and Target) and I get the error message "Unrecognized Source and Target Columns". What am I missing here?
Thanks
Rosa

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide the exact steps you followed when trying to import the Excel file into the Language Weaver Cloud dictionary. Also, specify the format of your Excel file and the version of Language Weaver Cloud you are using.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Rosa,

The error message "Unrecognized Source and Target Columns" usually appears when the system cannot identify the source and target columns in your Excel file. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Ensure that your Excel file is properly formatted. The first row should contain the headers "Source" and "Target" in the respective columns. The following rows should contain the source text and its corresponding translation.

Step 2: Save your Excel file as a .csv file. Language Weaver Cloud supports .csv files for dictionary import.

Step 3: Log in to your Language Weaver Cloud account.

Step 4: Navigate to the dictionary where you want to import the .csv file.

Step 5: Click on "Import" and select the .csv file you saved earlier.

Step 6: The system should automatically map the "Source" and "Target" columns from your .csv file to the corresponding fields in the Language Weaver Cloud dictionary. If not, manually select the correct columns.

Step 7: Click on "Import" to start the import process.

If you still encounter the same error, it might be due to some specific formatting issues in your Excel file. Please check if there are any special characters or formatting that might be causing the issue.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • The import function of Language Weaver doesn't support .cvs files.
