MultiTerm 2022 cannot open local termbase

After a complete Fresh Start reinstall of Trados Studio 2022 (SR2 - 17.2.12.19268) and MultiTerm 2022 Desktop (SR2 - 17.2.5.2838) on a workstation running Window 10 Pro, Studio is working fine, although it is currrently not allowing me to add new terms to the open local termbase in Studio. But MultiTerm cannot open any local termbase. Same installed versions of Studio 2022 and MultiTerm 2022 run just fine on my Dell Precision 7750 laptop.

Open Termbase immediately wants to connect to a MultiTerm Server - while none is defined. It persistently attempts to load the termbase list.

Error dialog box stating 'A connection to MultiTerm Server unknown could not be established. Please check your connection settings' with a loading Termbase List progress bar below.

Does anyone know why?
