Trying to add a new term onto my termbase currently open on Trados Studio is not possible, an error message appears

Hello, I have just updated my Trados Studio 2019 as I started using Windows 11 and my Studio went to be unable to create a project. I could open a single document only for translation. That problem has been solved by downloading a cumulative update for Trados Studio 2019, but I cannot add a new term from the document open on my Studio editor though I have highlighted both source and target terms, and the "add new term" button is not grayed-out. It shows an error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I tried "quick-add" but the result was the same error message. Please help. I have seen similar posts but not a solution.

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide the exact steps you took before encountering the error, and any troubleshooting steps you've already tried. Also, please confirm if you've made any recent changes to your system or software.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems like you're encountering a known issue with Trados Studio 2019 on Windows 11. The error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" typically appears when there's a null reference, meaning the software is trying to access a reference that doesn't exist.

Here are some steps you can try:

Step 1: Ensure that your Trados Studio 2019 is up-to-date. You can check for updates within the application.

Step 2: Try to restart Trados Studio. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve the issue.

Step 3: If the issue persists, you can try to repair your installation of Trados Studio. To do this, go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select Trados Studio 2019, and click on Repair.

Step 4: If the error still occurs, you might want to consider reinstalling Trados Studio 2019. Please make sure to back up your settings and projects before doing so.

Step 5: As a workaround, you can try clicking on any of the existing terms in the cloud termbase and then try again to add the new term. This has been suggested as a temporary solution to the issue.

Please note that this is a known issue and has been logged with our Development team for further investigation. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work on a permanent fix.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.
