Trados freezes in Review when the segments contain symbols

Hello,

I have Trados 2022 Freelance version. I usually use the Review section to review my translated documents, but I often encounter the same problem. Trados usually freezes at certain segments, but I have noticed that those segments contain symbols like < > (see the attached picture), and most of the time, I receive an error (today the error was the one in the picture). The documents are converted from PDF with ABBYY FineReader 15 (maybe this information is important).

What I have tried: I reinstalled windows and Trados, created a new translation memory and imported the old memory to the new one, uploaded the document again with a new name. Unfortunately, nothing changes. The Review section always freezes Trados when I click those segments.

Is there a way to avoid these situations in the future?

Thank you!

Can you click on the small disk, save the XML file to your desktop, and then attach that same file to your next reply.  That may contain information that helps with finding a solution to your problem:

Error dialog box from Trados Studio with a red cross symbol, displaying the message 'Value cannot be null. Parameter name: source'. There are buttons for 'Knowledge Base' and 'Community', and an 'OK' button.

  • Thank you for your reply. I've only received the error once today, and as much as I've tried to recreate it I couldn't. But I've discovered something else. I've almost forgotten that I installed Vertical Review, and after uninstalling it, the problem was gone. I think this was the problem. I have looked up and found a solution you provided to another user and you mentioned the apps (I haven't thought about them to be honest). Once again, thank you for your reply and the solutions you provide. Have a nice day!

Great... thanks for confirming.  Maybe  can test that theory with the Vertical Review so the developer can issue a fix if needed.
