Not exactly accurate... the AI.  Perhaps you did a more manual approach.  Close Studio, delete these folders and then restart Studio and install your plugins again using the integrated AppStore:

%APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

Thanks very much, Paul. just to be sure: when I enter those addresses it shows me 2 folders, "Packages" and "Unpacked". Am I to delete both? also, do I have to do it three times (once for each of those listed above)? Thanks again for your help.

If you delete the Plugins folder in all three locations then everything inside it will be deleted too.  That's the intention.

Does it crash without the plugin installed?  If it doesn't then we'll need to get the appstore team to look at the plugin.

thanks again for your patience. I deleted the plugin folders again and restarted Studio, after which I was able to save, so It's only happening with the plugin installed. I look forward to further suggestions. thanks,

Hi again, just to let you know, I repeated the process again and it seems to have worked. I am now able to save with language weaver. I needed to eliminate what was listed as an "unknown" translator, in the project configuration. seems like a "shadow"  left in studio after eliminating the plugin and the folders you mentioned.
