"The given key was not present in the dictionary" error while adding files or pre-translate

Hello.

Sometimes when I add files or pre-translate, or create a Project, i get this error: The given key was not present in the dictionary.

It happens for some files, not all, and in the same or different projects. I uninstalled and reinstalled Studio and the issue persists.

For instance, I have three MS Word files, very similar, in a project. Very similar, it is a legal writ divided in three to make it more manageable. Files 1 and 2 work perfectly, file 3 throws the error.

I use Trados Studio 2024 Freelance 18.0.2.3255

I had not seen this behavior before. It started about three weeks ago.

I hope to find some help and thank all in advance.

Trados Studio error message dialog showing 'Pre-translate Files' task failed with 1 error reported. Error message reads 'The given key was not present in the dictionary.'

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide the operating system you are using and any recent changes to your system or software. Also, if possible, share any error logs or more detailed error messages.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems like you're encountering a known issue with Trados Studio. This issue has been identified as a defect, CRQ-22659, and our development team is working on a fix to be included in future releases.

The error message "The given key was not present in the dictionary" typically occurs when there are certain elements in the file that Trados Studio is unable to process. In your case, it might be related to specific elements in your third Word file.

As a temporary workaround, you can check if the problematic file contains endnotes and remove them. This has been known to resolve the issue for some users.

Additionally, it's worth noting that this issue has been fixed in Trados Studio 2021 SR1 CU8. If possible, you might want to consider upgrading to this version or a later one to avoid this and other potential issues.
