Damaged TM : "one or more errors occured"

Hello,

My TM is damaged. Just before, I was updating the TM with an alignment - the process got stucked, I canceled the import, closed Trados during the cancelation via task manager...

It's a file based TM. Any idea how I can recover the data (to the state prior this desastrous alignment)?

Thanks for your help

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide the exact version of Trados Studio you are using, the operating system, and any error messages you received. Also, let us know if you have tried any troubleshooting steps already.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Aurélie,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your Translation Memory (TM). Here are some steps you can take to try and recover your data:

Step 1: Make a backup of your current TM. This is to ensure that you have a copy of your current data in case anything goes wrong during the recovery process.

Step 2: Try to open the TM in Trados Studio. If you can open it, try to export it as a TMX file.

Step 3: If you can't open the TM or export it, try to repair it. You can do this by going to the Translation Memories view, right-clicking on the TM, and selecting 'Repair'.

Step 4: If the repair doesn't work, you can try to recover the TM from the .bak file. This is a backup file that Trados Studio automatically creates when you update a TM. You can find it in the same folder as your TM. To recover from the .bak file, rename it to .sdltm and try to open it in Trados Studio.

Step 5: If none of the above steps work, you can try the workaround suggested in the context. This involves editing the TMX file in an XML/Text editor and replacing certain elements.

Please remember to always make a backup of your TM before attempting any recovery or repair actions.

  • Hi Aurelle,

I believe if the task can still be opened in Trados Studio on the "Editor" tab, you can create a new TM via "Project Settings" and then, from "Batch Tasks," select "Update Project Translation Memories."

The new TM will be updated with the same data as the old damaged TM.

I hope this fixes the issue.

    Best regards,
