Trados Studio Freelance 2021

File>Options>Translation Memory and Automated Translation>Use>File base Translation Memory>SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\Samples\Projects\SampleProject\TMs>English-German.sdltm>Open, and the below error comes up:

"The translation memory English-German.sdltm could not be opened. The DateTime represented by the string is not supported in calendar System.Globalization.JapaneseCalendar."

Do you know what do I have to set or how I can fix this issue so that I can open the  English-German.sdltm file?

Regards,

Raul

  • Hi Raul

I may be missing something, but in your screenshot, in the Navigation pane it shows the language as Japanese.  Also, the error specifically mentions that the string is not supported in "JapaneseCalendar".  If you are working in an English to German translation, then Japanese shouldn't be referenced; if you are working on English to Japanese then it's not surprising that the date settings are structurally different.

    Suggestions:

    1. Try opening the English - German TM in Translation Memories section of the Navigation Pane, rather than trying to attach it to a project.  That will confirm if there is an issue with the TM itself

    2. Confirm the source target languages of the project; in the Navigation pane, where you took your screenshot and it shows Japanese in the language field, click on the arrow to the right of "Japanese" - it should show English and German if they are the source and target languages.  The fact it shows Japanese at the moment suggest you have created the project as a En-Jp project, so you probably need to recreate the project ensuring that you select English and German as source and target languages.

    Hope that helps!
