Alignment in Trados Studio 2024

I'm attempting to align documents in Trados Studio 2024 and, in contrast to previous versions, I can't access the editing mode to connect 1:x or x:1 segments after rejecting the automatic alignment, which is necessary here because the auto-alignment has applied different segmentation rules to the source and target documents, e.g. splitting the target sentence after Str. in the English target doc, but not in the German source doc. Is aligment no longer editable or how does it work now? I can't even see a way of doing that, or editing/joining segments.

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more details about the steps you have taken to try to access the alignment editing mode, any error messages you have received, and the exact version of your Trados Studio 2024 software. Also, let us know if there have been any recent changes to your system or software.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

In Trados Studio 2024, the alignment feature should still be accessible and editable. However, the interface might have changed compared to previous versions. Here are the steps you can follow:

Step 1: Open Trados Studio 2024.

Step 2: Click on the 'Add-Ins' tab.

Step 3: Select 'Alignment' from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Click on 'Align Documents' to start the alignment process.

Step 5: After the automatic alignment, you should be able to edit the alignment by selecting the segments and using the 'Join Segments' or 'Split Segments' options.

If you're unable to see these options, it's possible that there might be an issue with your Trados Studio 2024 installation. You can try to update your software by going to the 'Help' menu and selecting 'Check for Updates'. If the problem persists, you might need to reinstall the software.
