Problems opening project file

Dear all,

I keep having problems opening a project sent to me as a project package by an outsourcer. After opening and saving the project in Trados Studio, Trados Studio freezes every time I open the file itself for translation. Trados Studio then needs to be shut down via the Task Manager.

I tried opening older project files, which caused no problem at all. I tried saving the affected project files in different folders to reduce the folder structure, but to no avail. I use Trados Studio 2022 with the most current updates.

Can you help me out? Thank you very much.

"Question improvement suggestion": To improve your question, it would be helpful to include any error messages you might be receiving when Trados Studio freezes. Also, please mention the operating system you are using.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

Based on your description, it seems like you're experiencing issues with a specific project package in Trados Studio 2022. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Ensure that your Trados Studio 2022 is up-to-date. You mentioned that you have the most current updates, but it's always good to double-check. You can do this by going to the "Help" menu and selecting "Check for Updates".

Step 2: Try to repair the project. Go to the "Projects" view, right-click on the problematic project, and select "Repair Project". This can help fix any issues with the project file.

Step 3: If the problem persists, you might want to consider reinstalling Trados Studio 2022. Before doing so, make sure to back up all your settings and resources.

Step 4: If none of the above steps work, it could be an issue with the project package itself. You might want to reach out to the outsourcer and ask them to resend the package.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

If only one outsourcer is concerned, I would first try to look at the settings in the offending project, as the cause might lay there.

  • Hi Stephanie,

    Nice to e-meet you.

Trying the following may be useful:

1- go to the project folder > the target folder then copy the trados file to other place and open it and work on it.

2- delete the project folder and try to install the open package again.

I hope that helps you to fix this.
