Unable to access the termbase - "Loading termbase..." message appears but it never finishes loading

Hi,

I am working on a project and I am logged into the server to access the termbase, but I see the "Loading termbase..." message below that appears and it never finishes loading, so I can't access it. I tried clicking on the little AZ button and I can see that the termbase is there and enabled (see lower), but I still cannot work with it.

Is it possible to help me find a solution to this problem?

Thank you.

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of Trados Studio and MultiTerm you are using, as well as the operating system version. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with accessing your termbase. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the "Loading termbase..." problem:

**Step 1:** Verify the Termbase Connection

    - Ensure that you are logged into the correct server and that the termbase is enabled. You mentioned that you can see the termbase, which is a good sign.

**Step 2:** Check for Special Characters

    - If your termbase name contains special characters, consider renaming it to remove those characters. This can sometimes resolve loading issues.

    **Step 3:** Clear MultiTerm Settings

    - Close MultiTerm and reset the termbase list settings. You can do this by navigating to `C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL MultiTerm` and deleting or renaming the folder corresponding to your version of Trados Studio (e.g., Multiterm16 for Trados Studio 2021).

    **Step 4:** Restart MultiTerm

    - After clearing the settings, reopen MultiTerm and try accessing the termbase again.

    **Step 5:** Check Server Status

    - If you are using a server-based termbase, ensure that the server is online and that your credentials are correct. You can check this in the Kalcium Web Interface under System Configuration.

    **Step 6:** Re-register the Termbase

    - In Trados Studio, go to Project Settings > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Termbases. Remove the termbase and then add it again to refresh the connection.

    **Step 7:** Update Software

    - Make sure that both Trados Studio and MultiTerm are updated to the latest versions, as updates often include bug fixes that could resolve your issue.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider recreating the termbase or reaching out for further assistance.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • Hi,

    MyTrados Studio information is :  Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.12.19268.

Where do I find the MultiTerm? (I am not even sure if I installed it so how do I verify)?
