Error message "Input file is corrupt" in up to date Studio 2024

Hiya!

I get the following error message when trying to open files I've worked on without problem yesterday:

Error dialog in Trados Studio showing 'Input file is corrupt: cmt-meta-def element with id xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx has no corresponding cmt-def' with OK button.

My Studio is up to date, so the similar problem posted before and its solution do not help. The files (all sdlxliff) were not created by me, but the problem only occurs on files I worked on previously. The files I haven't worked on can be opened without problem (still need to run QA on the files I did work on at least and might have to go back to them as well).

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Error details:

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any recent changes made to your system or software.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

Hello! It seems you're encountering an "Input file is corrupt" error with your SDLXLIFF files in Trados Studio 2024. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    **Step 1:** **Restart Trados Studio**

    - Close all instances of Trados Studio and reopen it. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

    **Step 2:** **Check File Integrity**

    - Ensure that the SDLXLIFF files you are trying to open are not corrupted. If possible, try to obtain a fresh copy of these files from the source.

**Step 3:** **Identify the File Type**

    - Determine the file type used to create the problematic SDLXLIFF files. You can do this by switching to the Files view in Studio and using the Batch Tasks to generate target translations. This will help you identify if the correct file type is being used.

**Step 4:** **Add the Correct File Type**

    - If you can identify the correct file type, request it from the person who created the project and add it to your project settings.

**Step 5:** **Create a Dummy File Type**

    - If you cannot obtain the correct file type, you can create a dummy file type as a workaround. Go to Project Settings > File Types, create a new file type, and use the identifier noted from the previous step.

    **Step 6:** **Recreate the Project**

    - If the issue persists, consider recreating the project using the same source files. This can help if the original project files are corrupted.

**Step 7:** **Check for Software Updates**

    - Ensure that your Trados Studio is fully updated. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer releases.

    **Step 8:** **Review Security Software**

    - If you suspect that your antivirus or firewall might be interfering, try temporarily disabling it to see if that resolves the issue.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, please provide additional details such as the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any recent changes made to your system. This information will help in diagnosing the issue further.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • Little correction: apparently it's not the files I worked on yesterday, but files in a subfolder, they're just mostly identical. So, there are edited files I can open and unedited files I can't open. For what it's worth....
