Trados restarted the operating system by using "Ctrl+Shift+F2"

I used "Ctrl+Shift+F2" and Windows 11 suddenly restarted. During translation, using this shortcut did not trigger restart before.

If I am adding new terms quickly by clicking with the mouse cursor on the corresponding icon in the ribbon, no restart is being executed.

Why Windows restarted because of this shortcut all of a sudden?

This is very unlikely to be caused by Trados Studio itself.  More likely the shortcut either:

    • Interacted with 3rd party software, or
    • Is coincidentally bound at the system level to a restart action.

If you need to get to the bottom of this then first test Ctrl+Shift+F2 outside of Trados... in Notepad for example and see what happens.  Restart your computer and try the shortcut in Trados again and see if it restarts.  If it does then check for any global hotkey mappings in:

    • AutoHotkey scripts
    • PowerToys
    • Windows Task Scheduler
    • Manufacturer control software

In fact in any 3rd party tools you might be running.  You could also use the windows Event Viewer to check what triggered the restart.  To do that:

    • Open Event Viewer

      • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialogue.

      • Type:

        eventvwr

        and press Enter.

    • Navigate to the Right Section

      • In the left-hand tree, expand:

        Windows Logs > System
    • Filter the Events (optional but useful)

      • Click on "Filter Current Log..." (in the right-hand pane).

      • In the Event IDs field, enter the following:

        1074, 6006, 6008
      • Then click OK.

      These IDs help you find:

      • 1074 → Clean shutdown or restart (triggered by a user or process)

      • 6006 → The Event Log service was stopped (normal shutdown)

      • 6008Unexpected shutdown (e.g. crash or forced restart)

    • Review the Relevant Entries

      • Look at the Date and Time to match when the issue occurred.

      • Double-click any event to open details.

      • Focus on the General tab – it may say things like:

"The process C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe initiated the restart of computer..."

        or

"The previous system shutdown at HH:MM:SS on DD/MM/YYYY was unexpected."
