Creating TM with bilingual word doc

Hi,

I have a bilingual word document which I'd like to use to create a TM for an upcoming project. How can I do that?

Thanks,

Janina

Question improvement suggestion: Provide more details about the format of the bilingual Word document and specify if you have any existing translation memories or if you are starting from scratch.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Janina,

To create a Translation Memory (TM) from your bilingual Word document in Trados Studio, you can follow these steps:

**Step 1:** Ensure your bilingual Word document is properly formatted, with clear source and target segments. If necessary, remove any images or complex formatting that might interfere with the alignment process.

**Step 2:** Open Trados Studio and go to the "Align" feature. This allows you to align the source and target segments of your bilingual document.

**Step 3:** Import your bilingual Word document into the alignment tool. You will need to manually align the segments if they are not automatically matched.

**Step 4:** Once the alignment is complete, you can generate a set of Translation Units (TUs) from the aligned document.

**Step 5:** Import these TUs into a new or existing TM. You can do this by going to the Translation Memories view, selecting your TM, and using the import function.

**Step 6:** After importing, make sure to update your TM to include the newly created TUs.

If you have any specific requirements or if your document is in a different format, please let me know, and I can provide more tailored guidance!
