LiveDocs functionality i Trados Studio?

I have many unaligned document pairs, which I’d love to use in future projects.
MemoQ LiveDocs makes it possible to align such documents and to use them as a whole during the translation process, as so called Corpus source. Although the documents are divided into segments by the LiveDocs alignment tool, these segments can be used without having to be imported in a TM, i.e. without having to be verified and adjusted. The adjustment can be done on-the-fly when needed while translating, when encountering a possible match.

Is there a similar functionality in Trados Studio?

Kind regards,

Trude

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the types of documents you want to align and any particular features you are looking for in Trados Studio.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Trude,

Step 1: In Trados Studio, you can indeed align unaligned document pairs using the alignment tool, which is similar to the LiveDocs functionality in MemoQ.

Step 2: To align your documents, you would first need to create a new project or open an existing one in Trados Studio.

Step 3: Add the source document and its corresponding translated document to the project.

Step 4: Use the alignment tool to match the segments in the source document with their corresponding translations in the translated document.

Step 5: After running the alignment, you can review the results and make any necessary adjustments.

Step 6: Once satisfied, you can save the aligned segments to a Translation Memory (TM) for future use.

While Trados Studio does not have a direct equivalent to the Corpus source feature in MemoQ, the alignment tool allows you to create a usable TM from your aligned documents, which can be leveraged in future translation projects. Additionally, the PerfectMatch feature can help you reuse translations from previously translated documents, making your workflow more efficient.
