Pre-translate batch task rarely works

Since about four monthts I have issues with the pre-translate batch task very frequently. The issue doesn't seem to be related to the size of the document, it happens with big and small projects alike.

/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/90/error-report-for-pretranslate-error-11_2D00_7_2D00_2025.xlsx

Things I have tried so far:

  • performing the batch task over and over with different percentages (e.g. 70% as suggested here gateway.rws.com/csm
  • repairing my Trados Studio installation

Useful info:

  • Trados Studio 2022 ProfessionalSR2 - 17.2.9.18688
  • the TM I (have to) use to perform the batch task is a very big TM with about 40 users and 3106110 translation units.

Could someone please help me troubleshoot?

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific error messages or codes encountered during the pre-translate batch task to help diagnose the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with the pre-translate batch task in Trados Studio 2022. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

**Step 1:** Verify your Translation Memory (TM) settings. Ensure that the TM you are using is properly connected to your project. Go to Project Settings > Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation to check this.

**Step 2:** Run a 'Verify Files' task before attempting the pre-translate batch task again. This can help identify any potential issues that might cause exceptions.

**Step 3:** Check for any Translation Units (TUs) that exceed 5000 characters, as this can sometimes cause issues. You can do this by going to Resources > Translation Memories > Select your TM > Launch TM Maintenance and applying the appropriate filters.

**Step 4:** If the problem persists, consider creating a new project with the same language pair and a new file-based TM. Import the SDLXLIFF files from your original project and run the batch task again.

**Step 5:** If you are still encountering issues, you might want to try using the Language Weaver Cloud plugin as a workaround, as it has been noted that some defects are being addressed in future releases.

**Step 6:** Lastly, ensure that your Trados Studio software is up-to-date, as updates can often resolve bugs and improve functionality.

If you continue to experience difficulties, please provide any specific error messages or codes you encounter, as this will help in diagnosing the issue further.
