TM

I'm working on a translation project, and I've integrated my own Translation Memory (TM) and Term Base (TB). When I save a translated segment, it seems to save successfully without any errors. However, when I go back to that segment later and hover over it, I don't see any indication on the screen that it's present in my TM. It's like the TM isn't recognizing its own saved translations.

My main question is: How can I make my saved translations consistently appear and be recognized by the TM I've set up?

I also have another related question: How can I get my TM to suggest translations or even partial matches? I've been using this program since 2016, and I haven't received a single suggestion from my TM for any sentence. It's hard to believe there isn't at least a 70% similarity match for some of my translations by now. Are there any settings I need to adjust to fix this?"

Is there any video explaining the process to help?

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the version of Trados Studio you are using and any error messages you may have encountered.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

Hello! Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you ensure that your saved translations appear consistently in your Translation Memory (TM) and to enable suggestions from your TM:

    **Step 1:** **Check TM Settings**

    - Go to 'Project Settings' > 'Language Pairs' > 'All Language Pairs' > 'Translation Memory and Automated Translation'. Ensure that both the 'Enabled' and 'Update' options are checked for your TM.

    **Step 2:** **Confirm Segments**

    - Make sure you are confirming each segment by pressing [Ctrl]+[Enter] or by clicking 'Home' > 'Confirm'. If segments are not confirmed, they will not be saved in the TM.

    **Step 3:** **Review Task History**

    - Check the 'Task History' for the 'Translation Memory update' task to see if it was 'Completed', 'Skipped', or 'Failed'. This will help you identify if there were any issues during the update process.

    **Step 4:** **Re-index Your TM**

    - If you are using a cloud-based TM, go to your Trados Live account, navigate to 'Resources' > 'Translation Memories', select your TM, and click on 'Re-index'. For file-based TMs, open Trados Studio, go to the Translation Memories view, select your TM, and choose 'Settings' > 'Performance and Tuning' > 'Re-index Translation Memory'.

    **Step 5:** **Adjust Match Settings**

    - To ensure your TM suggests translations or partial matches, go to 'Project Settings' > 'Language Pairs' > 'Current Pair' > 'Translation Memory and Automated Translation'. Adjust the 'Minimum match value' to a lower percentage if necessary.

    **Step 6:** **Enable Concordance Search**

    - To enable partial match suggestions, go to 'Options' > 'Editor' > 'Concordance Search Window' and check the option to perform a search if the TM lookup returns no results.

**Step 7:** **Check for Lookahead Feature**

    - If you are not seeing new terms or matches, check if the Lookahead feature is enabled. You can disable it by navigating to 'File' > 'Options' > 'Editor' > 'Automation'.

**Step 8:** **Create a New TM if Necessary**

    - If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider creating a new TM and importing your existing translations into it. This can sometimes resolve underlying issues with the TM.
