Best way to translate just one sentence?

Hello,

I sometimes need to translate just one sentence. I'd like to use the TM/TB but creating a project would be ineffective for so little text. Any advice how to do this most efficently?

Looking forward for your great ideas!

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the software version you are using and any previous attempts you've made to translate single sentences.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Aurélie,

Translating just one sentence efficiently can indeed be a challenge, but there are several methods you can use to streamline the process without creating a full project. Here are some steps you can follow:

**Step 1:** **Use T-Window for Clipboard**

If you have the T-Window for Clipboard tool installed (which is included by default in Trados Studio 2011), you can copy the sentence you want to translate directly from your email or document. This tool will automatically look up the text in your Translation Memories (TMs) when you copy it.

    **Step 2:** **Translate and Confirm**

Once T-Window displays the translation from your TM, you can edit it as needed. After confirming the translation by pressing `Ctrl + Enter`, it will be added to your TM automatically.

    **Step 3:** **Paste the Translation**

You can then paste the translated sentence back into your email or document using `Ctrl + V`. This method allows you to translate sentences quickly without the need to create a project.

**Alternative Method:** **Translate Single Document Command**

If you prefer a more structured approach, you can use the 'Translate Single Document' command in Trados Studio. This allows you to create a .sdlxliff file with just the source language segments, translate it, and generate the target file without going through the full project setup.

    **Step 4:** **Consider Using Plugins**

You might also want to explore plugins like TuToTm, which allows you to add translations directly to your TMs without creating a project. This can be particularly useful for translating short texts or sentences.

By using these methods, you can efficiently translate single sentences while still leveraging your Translation Memories.
