Providing target language under the source language instead of side by side.

Hello,

I have used Trados Freelance 7.0 for a long time but nowadays a number of clients want that their projects be translated by means of Trados Studio.  While I downloaded and installed TS 2015, I found that the source and target languages are shown side by side whereas I have developed the habit of target language under the source language while using Trados Workbench and TagEditor.  It is very convenient when the target language is under the source language while it consumes extra time in the other case, in addition to causing some sort of trouble.

I think that SDL Trados should consider providing the facility of using both options, one may select as per his convenience.

Thanks and regards,

Chopra

  • Hi Chopra,

Thereason this has not been done today is twofold. First the side by side approach has become more popular and in many cases users do start to find they prefer it. The second reason is because the effort required using the current Editor technology is considerable.

However, this doesn't mean it will never happen, and the new online editor we are currently testing with our Beta Community does support both views, and this may become the replacement for the current Studio editor in the future.
