My SDL Trados Studio 2022 closes unexpectedly

My SDL Trados Studio 2022 closes unexpectedly without displaying any message. Once closed, I have to reopen it and sometimes I lose some of the work I have done.

I currently have version 17.0.4.13209 installed and I cannot upgrade because I have two plugins installed that only work with this version.

    Hello!

It sounds frustrating to have SDL Trados Studio 2022 closing unexpectedly, especially when you're losing work. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    **Step 1:** **Check for Updates**

Make sure that your version of Trados Studio is up to date. Sometimes, updates include important fixes for stability issues. You can check for updates within the application.

    **Step 2:** **Repair Installation**

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Open the Control Panel.

    3. Navigate to Programs > Programs and Features.

    4. Find Trados Studio 2022 in the list, right-click it, and select "Uninstall/Change" > "Repair."

    5. Restart your computer and then open Trados Studio again.

    **Step 3:** **Reset User Settings**

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Navigate to the following path:

      `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17`

    3. Rename the "Studio17" folder to "Studio17_old."

    4. Restart Trados Studio to see if the issue persists.

    **Step 4:** **Check Plugins**

Sometimes, plugins can cause instability. You can try renaming the Plugins folder:

    1. Go to `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins`

    2. Rename the "Plugins" folder to "Plugins_old."

    3. Open Trados Studio and check if the issue still occurs.

    **Step 5:** **Windows Updates**

Ensure your operating system is fully updated, as missing updates can sometimes lead to application issues.

If the problem continues after trying these steps, please consider documenting any specific actions or patterns you notice before the application closes, as this information can be helpful for further troubleshooting.
