when I try to create a new project with Word or Excel files, I get the error message in the screenshot below.

What do you refer to when you say "the same error"? This is a new post? What do you refer to?
Is this meant to be an answer to a previous thread?
Does this happen with all Word documents or only one given document?

You can use any of the current versions of MS Office (2013 or 2016), but be aware that if you use a "click-to-run" version such as Office 365 (see KB article 5013), you will not be able to use the "real-time preview". The normal preview however will work fine.
