Trados 2017 transition to Windows 11

Hi all :-)
I work for a client (big company) that uses a fairly old GroupShare version (2015). They are working on upgrading to the 2020 version, but I don't know when it will be effective.

I actually have a Trados 2017 license on Windows 10. With the end of Windows 10 approaching, I have to transition to Windows 11. But as you may know, Trados 2017 isn't supported on Windows 11.

Does anyone have a clever solution for me since I can't upgrade to Trados 2024 yet because I wouldn't be able to work for that client anymore (and it represents half of my revenue)?

Thanks!

  •  Hello  ,

Well I see a few options that you might have, considering the circumstances.

    1. You wait on upgrading to win11 even if it is EOL, main thing is that you will not receive updates on your Operating System after it is EOL,but it does not mean it stops working.

    2. You upgrade to win11 and hope that Trados Studio 2017 continues to work, but I see it a bit risky to be honest with you.

    3. Or you could go for the third option - you pay the Security updates extension for 1 year at Microsoft I think it is about 30$ first year extension for individuals.

Of course my suggestion would be once your client switches to GroupShare 2020 it is for you to upgrade your license as well for Trados Studio as you will have compatibility issues with newer versions of GroupShare.

    Hope this helps
