2015 Studio missing Menupoints

I miss menupoints in “editor”. E.g. in "Editor"- "Review",  I have "Track Changes" but no black arrow to open submenu. I miss  "Assess quality";
shortcut crtl+alt+f11 give no reaction: no access to these new functions!
I see only the point "TQas" in "File".

Under "Projects" - "View" "Ribbon Customization" no way to view the missed points.
Under "Review" is normally "Home""Review""Advanced""View""Add- Ins""Help", but I miss "Review" and "Advanced", not offered in "Ribbon Customization" neather at the left nor at the right I have a Win 8 PC, with the last Java installed, and with framework 4.5.2. Reinstalling, redowning, resetting Studio... no chanche. Is that a configuration Problem with Java?

Grateful for help,

Rosa Alcalá

  • Hi Rosa,

    The only logical explanation I can think of for this is that you have a screen resolution that is not suitable for viewing Studio (it's not accepting of high res screens with high DPI settings). Maybe make sure you are set to 100% and restart Studio.

    Let me know if that helps?

    Regards

  • Thanks vor your almost realtime answer!

    Your solution didn't solve the problem. I made a mistake in my original report, "Review" and "Advanced" appear (at least now), but no "Assment quality" left to add, at "Ribbon Customization" under "View". I have made two significant screenshots, (with hi res back, because it was unfortunately not a problem of resolution), from "View" and from "Review".

    Under Track Changes the black arrow right under "Reject", open this windows:

    Nice WE,

    Rosa Alcalá

  • Hi Rosa,

    Can you try resetting the ribbon by clicking the reset button at the bottom when you are customising and then restart Studio?

    If that doesn't help then perhaps a reset is in order. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0

    Regards

  • Hallo Paul!
    Thank you for your two new suggestions! (The second one was a little tricky for me, because I had to active the view of hidden files, prior to navigating und renaming). Unfortunately your new suggestions didn't solve my curious problem. I hope, you have an other idea!

  • Hallo! A few additional informations: I installed Studio 2015 Testversion in two other PCs with Windows 7 and Windows 10, and I had no problems at all. But the Windows 8 PC is my main workstation. Have Studio 2015 known problems with Windows 8? You think, upgrading to windows 10 would help? I would like to avoid upgrading, because the actual system is running fine, with exception of Studio 2015 new functions. I mean, it is not only a problem of ribbon view, I have actually no access to the new functions on my main workstation. (Shortcuts don't work, too). Do these new functions use a special environment (e.g. Java or .net Framework), where could look for my solution? (but Java and framework seem to work fine).
    Any new solutions?

    Have a nice day,

    Rosa
  • Hi Rosa,

    I don't believe this is a known issue... in fact I have a new laptop coming in a couple of days and this will be W8.1 since we don't support W10 internally in our business yet.  So I hope not!!

    I think if it was me I'd try a complete reinstall before contacting support.  If you want to try it do the following:

    1. Uninstall Studio 2015 and MultiTerm 2015 through the windows control panel
    2. Now manualy remove the following folders if any of them are still present after the uninstall:
      c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12
      c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0
      c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12
      c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0
      c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12
      c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0
      c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4
      c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Studio 2015\Project Templates

    Then reinstall.  If it's still a problem after that then I think the best thing will be to contact the support team.

    Go to the Knowledgebase;

    http://kb.sdl.com

    Then go to the tab called Solution Finder and now go here;

    Download & Installation Problems
    - I use SDL Trados Studio and/or SDL MultiTerm 2009, 2011, 2014 or 2015
    -- The installation went fine but now I get an error message etc
    --- The problem occurs in (pick the appropriate tool/s)
    ---- None of the articles resolved my problem (if they didn’t!)

    Follow the route for your problem and if there is no answer that helps by the time you get to the end you'll be presented with a form to contact support. Complete all the fields in the form making sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    Also use the Chrome browser to log the case if you have it; you'll get more success in completing the form.

    Regards

    Paul
