Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any recent updates or changes made to your system.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Brigitte,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with Trados Studio getting stuck during startup. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this problem:

    **Step 1: Repair Installation**

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Open the Control Panel:

      - For Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

    3. Select Trados Studio from the list and click on "Uninstall/Change" > "Repair".

    4. Restart Trados Studio and see if the issue persists.

    **Step 2: Reset Basic Settings**

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Navigate to the following folder:

      - For Trados Studio 2022: `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\`

    3. Rename the folder named "Studio17" to "Studio17_old".

    4. Restart Trados Studio.

**Step 3: Check for Windows Updates**

    1. Type "Check for updates" in the Windows search bar and select the option.

    2. Install any pending updates and restart your computer.

    **Step 4: Check .NET Framework**

    1. Ensure that you have the .NET Framework 4.7.2 (or later) installed.

    2. If necessary, refresh your .NET Framework installation by going to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off, unchecking the .NET Framework, restarting your computer, and then rechecking it.

    **Step 5: Reset Window Layout**

    1. If you can access Trados Studio, go to View > Reset Window Layout to restore the default layout.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be helpful to check if any translation memories or termbases are corrupted, as this can sometimes cause startup issues.
