SDL STudio 2024 crashing

Dear Community,

I hope someone can help quickly.

I have been using Trados/Studio since Freelance Version 2007. I have never had a situation like this.

SDL Studio 2024 has been crashing since yesterday. I have followed all the online instructions for self-help. They haven't worked.  I can't log into RWS to ask for technical support.

I have followed all the instructions saying how to fix SDL Studio 2024 crashing (with the following message: Service Sdl Desktop Platform CommandBars IAction Service) listed here:

- Language Weaver plugin causes Trados Studio to crash with "Service 'Sdl.Desktop.Platform.CommandBars.IActionService' could not be started" error message. - RWS Customer Support

It hasn't solved the issue.

Then, I tried repairing my installation, and followed this:

- Repairing your installation of Trados Studio - RWS Customer Support

Nothing has helped. I am still back on square one.

Now, this is most unfortunate. I need to be able to deliver the translation project asap.

Please, can anyone help quickly?

Thank you!!!

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the operating system and the exact version of Trados Studio 2024 you are using, as well as any error codes or messages you encounter.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

I understand how frustrating it can be when Trados Studio 2024 keeps crashing, especially when you're on a tight deadline. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

**Step 1:** Close Trados Studio and navigate to the following path in File Explorer:

    - For Trados Studio 2024: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\17

**Step 2:** Rename the **Plugins** folder to something like **Plugins_old**. This will help determine if a plugin is causing the crash.

**Step 3:** Repair your Trados Studio installation:

    - Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

    - Find Trados Studio in the list, right-click it, and select **Repair**.

**Step 4:** Restart your computer and then open Trados Studio again.

**Step 5:** If the issue persists, check if you have the .NET Framework 4.8 or later installed, as this is required for Trados Studio 2024. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

**Step 6:** If you suspect that a specific Translation Memory (TM) or Termbase might be corrupted, try disabling them one by one in the Project Settings to see if the crash continues.

**Step 7:** Ensure that your translation resources are stored locally rather than on a shared drive or cloud service, as this can sometimes lead to access issues.

**Step 8:** If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider resetting Trados Studio to its default settings or using the Trados Freshstart app from the RWS AppStore.

If you continue to experience crashes after trying these steps, please provide additional details about your operating system and any specific error messages you receive, and I will be happy to assist you further.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.
