Trados Studio 2024 SR1 error: "Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created"

Question

The error "Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created" appears any time I click on a segment. Then after clicking Enter and confirming the segment, the whole program shuts down. I've tried the following: 
 - unselecting "Automatically re-open previously edited documents" - reinstalling trados - changing the name of the folder c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio18\ - clearing temporary files by pressing the Windows and R keys together, and typing `%temp% 
 The problem is not specific to one project as it keeps occurring. I fixed it once or twice by re-naming trados folders but it keeps happening again.

I am using Trados Studio Freelance 2024 SR1.
