Terminology verifier - Erronous errors, casing and plural issues

Hello,

I need to run a terminology check for a large project with a TB provided by my client.

I've set my project as follows

Trados Studio project settings window showing verification parameters, including options for terminology base name, criteria for verification, and error settings.

I however encoutner several issues, including:

1. The verifier marks terms with different casings as an error

Trados Studio interface displaying translation results with warnings about untranslated terms for 'User Type' and highlighted segments in the editor.

2. Whenever I'm in the Messages tab, it jumps back to the TM entries. How can I disable this to fully concentrate on the TB verifier and avoid plutiple clicks?

Thank you!

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the software version you are using and any recent changes made to the project settings or termbase.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

Step 1: To address the issue of the Terminology Verifier marking terms with different casings as errors, you may want to check the settings in your termbase. Ensure that the termbase is configured to allow for case variations. Unfortunately, there is no direct setting in Trados Studio to ignore case sensitivity, but organizing your termbase effectively can help mitigate this issue.

Step 2: Regarding the jumping back to TM entries when in the Messages tab, this is a known behavior in Trados Studio. While there is no direct way to disable this feature, you can try running the verification from the Batch Tasks menu instead of the Messages tab. This may help you focus on the terminology verification without the interruptions.

Step 3: If you continue to experience issues, consider re-adding your termbase as a workaround. Open the document in the Editor view, go to Project Termbase Settings, remove the current termbase, and then re-add it. This may help refresh the verification process.

Step 4: Lastly, ensure that your version of Trados Studio is up to date, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements related to the Terminology Verifier.

Question improvement suggestion: Specify the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and clarify any specific error messages or behaviors you are encountering.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

Step 1: It seems you are experiencing persistent issues with the Terminology Verifier. As a workaround, you can try re-adding your termbase before running the verification. To do this, open the document in the Editor view, go to Project Termbase Settings, remove the current termbase, and then re-add it. This may help refresh the verification process, although it might only work temporarily.

Step 2: If the verification still does not yield satisfactory results, consider running the verification from the Batch Tasks menu instead of the Messages tab. This can help you focus on the terminology verification without interruptions.

Step 3: To reduce false positives, you might want to organize your termbase more effectively. Using different termbases for various projects or clients, or categorizing terms with custom fields, can enhance the precision of the terminology verification.

Step 4: If you are encountering issues related to duplicate terms or language fields in your termbase, it may be necessary to recreate the termbase. Ensure that the "Ignore sub-languages" option is not enabled during the import process to avoid duplicates.

Step 5: Lastly, keep your software updated, as RWS is aware of the issues with terminology verification in Trados Studio 2022 SR2 and is working on a fix. Regular updates often include improvements and bug fixes that could resolve your issues.

Question improvement suggestion: Include the specific version of Trados Studio you are using and clarify if you have any specific settings or configurations that might affect the batch tasks.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

Step 1: To run a Terminology verification using Batch Tasks in Trados Studio, first, ensure that your document is open in the Editor view.

Step 2: Navigate to the top menu and click on **Batch Tasks**. This option is typically found in the main toolbar.

Step 3: In the Batch Tasks menu, look for the option labeled **Verify Files**. This option allows you to run various verification checks, including terminology verification.

Step 4: Once you select **Verify Files**, a dialog box will appear where you can choose the specific verification settings you want to apply. Make sure that the **Terminology Verifier** is checked in the settings.

Step 5: After confirming your settings, click **OK** to start the verification process. The results will be displayed in the Messages pane, where you can review any terminology issues found.

Step 6: If you encounter any issues or if the verification does not yield the expected results, consider re-adding your termbase as a workaround. You can do this by going to **Project Termbase Settings**, removing the current termbase, and then re-adding it.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide screenshots directly, but you can find detailed visual guides in the RWS Online Help documentation for your specific version of Trados Studio.
