Source and Target show different size text

Hi,

I am working on a new computer after accidental damage on my previous one last week and trying to get over the loss of data...and all the fun moments when setting up a new computer...and keep having stressful niggles. This is the latest :

After a coffee break, the display (Trados Studio 2019) suddenly appeared uncomfortably large on my Editor Window. I tried to resize used both the Font view menu in Studio and also the generic Windows "Ctrl -" shortcut on my keyboard.

I am not sure what went wrong, but I am now unable to reset the Font/Display as showing the same size in Source and Target. I tried the Options-Editor-Font adaptation option several times, to no avail. It wont keep the settings/wont Save.

I have tried to start a new project from scratch and the problem persists. It is very unsettling as the target font is tiny compared to the Source displayed font. I worked on a first project before this one on this new computer (running Windows 11 latest version) and did not have that issue. It still displays normally, but every new project I am trying to create as a turnaround seems to carry the problem over. I have not updated the licence due to time constrains (and complete exhaustion after data loss and having to start a previous job from scratch...I know...) therefore using the trial version. Would it make a difference to update my licence (I need to look into deactivating it on the old computer and not sure how complicated or lengthy that may be so I thought I would do that over the next few days). Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in anticipation,

Corinne

    Hello Corinne,

I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with display issues, especially after setting up a new computer. Let's try to resolve the font size inconsistency between the Source and Target segments in Trados Studio 2019. Here are some steps you can follow:

**Step 1:** Check Font Adaptation Settings

    - Go to **File** -> **Options** -> **Editor** -> **Font Adaptation**.

    - Ensure that the **Adapt Font Sizes** option is enabled. You can set the desired font sizes for both Source and Target text here.

    **Step 2:** Adjust Display Scaling

    - Right-click on the Trados Studio icon on your desktop or Start menu.

    - Select **Properties** and then go to the **Compatibility** tab.

    - Check the box for **Disable display scaling on high DPI settings**. This can help with display issues on high-resolution screens.

    **Step 3:** Reset Window Layout

    - In Trados Studio, go to the **View** tab and select **Reset Window Layout**. This can help restore any default settings that may have been altered.

**Step 4:** Check Windows Display Settings

    - Go to **Control Panel** -> **Appearance and Personalization** -> **Display**.

    - Ensure that the scaling is set to **100%** or **125%**. If it’s set higher, it may affect how Trados Studio displays fonts.

**Step 5:** Create a New Project

    - If the issue persists, try creating a new project to see if the problem carries over. Sometimes, project settings can cause display issues.

If you continue to experience problems, consider updating your license when you have the chance, as this may resolve some underlying issues.

I hope these steps help you get back to a comfortable working environment! If you have any further questions or if the issue persists, please let me know.
