Studio 2024 fails to launch with no error message

Hi. I tried to align two documents to create a TM in Studio 2024. It got stuck in the middle of the process and stayed like that for 10 minutes. I clicked on the Cancel button and nothing happened. I tried closing everything and nothing happened. I had to close it through the PC's Task Manager. I tried launch it. I saw the initializing window below. It disappears and does not launch. I tried to reinstall Studio 2024, but the problem persists. Please help...

Trados Studio 2024 initialization window with text 'Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.2.6370' and 'Ejecutando extensiones de inicio...' on a blue gradient background.

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of Trados Studio 2024 you are using, and specify your operating system and its version for better assistance.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with Trados Studio 2024 not launching after attempting to align documents. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

    **Step 1:** Clear Temporary Files

    - Close Trados Studio.

    - Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.

    - Type `%temp%` and press Enter.

    - Delete all files and folders in the Temp directory if possible.

    **Step 2:** Repair Installation

    - Open Control Panel and navigate to 'Programs and Features'.

    - Find Trados Studio 2024 in the list, right-click on it, and select 'Repair'.

    - Follow the prompts to complete the repair process.

    **Step 3:** Check .NET Framework

    - Ensure that you have the .NET Framework 4.7.2 (or later) installed. You can check this in the Control Panel under 'Programs and Features'.

    - If necessary, refresh your .NET Framework installation by unchecking the .NET Framework option in 'Turn Windows features on or off', restarting your computer, and then re-enabling it.

    **Step 4:** Reset Settings

    - Close Trados Studio.

    - Navigate to `C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\` and rename the folder named 'Studio17' to 'Studio17_old'.

    - Restart Trados Studio.

**Step 5:** Check for Corrupted Resources

    - If the issue persists, check if any translation memories (TMs) or termbases are corrupted. Disable them one by one in Project Settings and see if the issue continues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to check for any updates for Trados Studio or your operating system.

  • Many thanks, Elisa. I have "repaired" Trados as indicated in the AI answer, but did not delete the temporary files. I also restarted my computer. Nothing seems to work. Disappointed
