Trados Studio 2024 stopped working, it is not opening anymore

Hi Team,

I have a licence Trados Studio 2024 bought on May 2025 and until now it worked without issues. However, for no other reason it stopped working, it is not opening anymore. I did not make any changes in my computer/system, so does not understand why this is happening. Simply, when I try to open Trados, only initial windows appear that are apearing prior to opening and then nothing opens. No error message, nothing. I tried install/uninstall several times. Then I tried reseting it by renaming files BaseSettings.xml, Plugincache.xml, UserSettings.xml, nothing changed.

Pls help, I am not able to proceed with my work and I have already delays in my projects.

Many thanks.

Sylvia

Question improvement suggestion: Please provide the exact version of Trados Studio 2024 you are using, as well as your operating system version. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Sylvia,

It seems you're experiencing an issue with Trados Studio 2024 not starting properly. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

**Step 1:** Close all RWS applications completely.

**Step 2:** Check for any pending Windows updates.

    - Go to the Start menu, type "Check for updates," and select the option.

    - Install any updates found and restart your computer.

**Step 3:** Run a repair installation of Trados Studio.

    - Open the Control Panel and navigate to 'Programs and Features.'

    - Find Trados Studio 2024 in the list, right-click on it, and select 'Repair.'

    - Restart Trados Studio after the repair process is complete.

**Step 4:** Reset Trados Studio settings.

    - Navigate to the following folder: `C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\`

    - Rename the folder corresponding to your version (e.g., 'Studio18' for Trados Studio 2024) to something like 'Studio18_old.'

    - Restart Trados Studio.

**Step 5:** Check for any third-party plugins that might be causing the issue.

    - Navigate to the same folder as in Step 4 and look for a 'Plugins' folder. Rename it to 'Plugins_old' to disable any plugins temporarily.

**Step 6:** If the issue persists, consider running Trados Studio as an administrator.

    - Right-click on the Trados Studio icon and select 'Run as administrator.'

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to check for any antivirus software that could be interfering with the application. Adding the Trados Studio installation folder as an exception in your antivirus settings can sometimes help.
