Trados Studio 2024 suddenly closes and won't open again, only the wizzard starts.

Bogdan Valean resolved the problem yesterday, but the same thing happend this morning. Trados Studio 2024 suddenly closed and won't open again, only the wizzard starts.

I renamed the files (18, Trados Studio), then started as an administrator, with no result. What could be the root cause? How can I prevent this from happening again? Do I need to run the wizzard?

  • Dear Jerzy, OK, it opens, that's good, thanks! By the way, in my system it's a folder called Projects, I changed the name of the folder into _Projects, and the individual projects are to be found inside that folder, they don't appear in the list of projects (which is empty). But why does this happen evey now and then, and is there a way to prevent this from happening?

In that very folder you'll find a file called projects.xml. You only need to rename this very file, NOT the whole folder. When you do so, your projects won't be listed, but you can simply open them form the Projects view using the command "Open project". This is why you should NOT rename the complete folder, as this will change the paths.

The reason for the disaster is simple: the projects.xml file got damaged due to crash or other reasons. This does happen rarely, but when it happens, Studio fails to start.
