Target file generation problem

Hello,

After changing my desktop computer (Windows 11), I reinstalled my SDL Trados Studio 2019 licence (there were no apparent compatibility issues between versions). I can generate a project and work in Trados. However, the problem occurs when trying to generate the target file: I then get the following blocking message:

"Echec de l'enregistrement du contenu cible : La référence d'objet n'est pas définie à une instance d'un objet".

I have tried several things to solve the problem, like repairing my installation of Trados Studio or renaming of the folder “Studio” to “Studio_old”. Nothing has worked and I now also get the following message:

"XXX (the access path) est introuvable. Vérifiez que le chemin d'accès et l'adresse internet sont corrects".

The computer technician who installed my computer partitioned the hard drive as follows: programs on C, my files (Documents, Images, etc.) on D.

Has anyone else encountered the same problems and managed to solve them?

 Thank you for your help.

 Valérie

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any specific steps you took before encountering the error.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Valérie,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with generating target files in Trados Studio after your recent installation. Let's try to address this step by step:

    **Step 1:** **Check for Updates**

Make sure that your Trados Studio 2019 is updated to the latest version. You can do this by opening Trados Studio, clicking on 'Help', and then selecting 'Check for Updates'.

**Step 2:** **Reset Trados Studio Settings**

To reset your Trados Studio settings, follow these steps:

    - Close Trados Studio.

    - Navigate to `C:\Users\[Your_Username]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0` (replace `[Your_Username]` with your actual username).

    - Rename the folder `15.0.0.0` to `15.0.0.0_old`.

    - Restart Trados Studio.

    **Step 3:** **Check Antivirus Settings**

Sometimes, antivirus software can interfere with Trados Studio's operations. Ensure that Trados Studio is added to your antivirus exclusion list. You may need to add the following paths:

    - `C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio15`

    - `C:\Users\[Your_Username]\AppData\Local\Temp`

    **Step 4:** **Verify Project Files**

Make sure that the original source files are present in the project. If the SDLXLIFF file came from a Word document, ensure that the original Word file is accessible. If not, you may need to request the original file from the client.

    **Step 5:** **Recreate the Project**

If the issue persists, consider recreating the project. You can create a new project and import the existing translation memory to pre-translate the segments.

If you continue to face issues, please provide more details about the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any specific steps you took before encountering the error.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.
