CTRL + C not working properly

Hello,

I've been having issues with the CTRL+C shortcut in Trados Studio 2024 lately. The issue first occured after the installation of SR 1. When creating a new project and trying to copy the file path entered under storage location, Trados actually removes the path instead of copying it. It doesn't save it to the clipboard either (nothing happens when I hit CTRL+V). A similar issue occurs when I try to copy something from the fragment search window. Again, nothing happens when I press CTRL+V to insert the fragment in a segment. Copying something from the concordance search window works fine though. The same applies to other shortcuts (such as CTRL+X), which don't seem to be affected.

Trados 2022, which is installed on the same machine, is not affected by this issue either, so I guess it must have something to do with the update to SR 1. I've already checked the shortcuts in Trados 2024, they seem to correct.

Is this a common issue? Or is it just me?

Kind regards,

Simon

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of Trados Studio 2024 you are using, as well as details about your operating system. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Simon,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issues you're experiencing with the CTRL+C shortcut in Trados Studio 2024. Let's troubleshoot this step by step:

**Step 1:** Check for Conflicting Applications

It seems that the DeepL for Windows app may cause conflicts with keyboard shortcuts in Trados Studio. Please go to the settings of the DeepL app and disable any shortcuts that might interfere with CTRL+C and CTRL+V.

    **Step 2:** Reset Keyboard Shortcuts

You can reset your keyboard shortcuts in Trados Studio by navigating to **File > Options > Keyboard Shortcuts** and clicking on **Reset All**. This can help restore any default functionality that may have been altered.

    **Step 3:** Repair Installation

If the issue persists, consider repairing your Trados Studio installation. You can do this through the Control Panel by finding Trados Studio 2024, right-clicking on it, and selecting **Repair**.

    **Step 4:** Check for Updates

Ensure that your Trados Studio 2024 is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, updates can resolve bugs and improve functionality.

**Step 5:** Test with Another Keyboard

If possible, try using a different keyboard to rule out any hardware issues that might be causing the shortcuts to malfunction.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide the exact version of Trados Studio 2024 you are using and details about your operating system. This information will help in diagnosing the problem more effectively.

  • I'm using the latest Trados Studio 2024 version (Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.3.6657). Unfortunately, noone of the suggestions above helped. I've closed the DeepL app, repaired the installation, installed the latest version and tried it with another keyboard, but the issue still occurs. Could find the "Reset All" button for the keyboard shortcuts, but I'm sure I didn't change them anyways.
