Cannot open translated file

Dear All,

I have translated a large file and finalized it so my TM is up to date. However, I cannot open the generated target or export file based on my translation.

I then tried to import the translatable file (after having renamed it), in order to retranslate it based on my TM, but this gives the same result.

All tips are welcome!

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific error messages or codes encountered when trying to open the target file, as well as the version of Trados Studio you are using.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're facing a challenging issue with opening your translated file. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

**Step 1:** Check for Error Messages

If you encounter any specific error messages when trying to open the target file, please note them down. This information can be crucial in diagnosing the issue.

**Step 2:** Verify File Type Compatibility

Ensure that the file type used for your project is compatible with Trados Studio. If you suspect a file type issue, you can recreate the project using the correct file type. You can find the file type identifier by switching to the Files view and generating target translations.

    **Step 3:** Recreate the Project

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider recreating the project:

    1. Go to the Projects view and create a New Local Project.

    2. Use the same source file as in the original project.

    3. Add the translation memory (TM) used in the original project during the Translation Resources step.

    4. Click Finish to create the project.

**Step 4:** Use Pre-Translate Batch Task

During the batch task pre-translate step, the saved segments in the TM will be used to translate the original source file. This can help in retrieving any previously translated segments.

**Step 5:** Check for Hidden Characters

Sometimes, hidden characters in the translation can cause issues. If you suspect this might be the case, try to identify and remove any hidden characters from your translation.

    **Step 6:** Update Trados Studio

If you are using an older version of Trados Studio, consider upgrading to the latest version, as this may resolve compatibility issues.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, please provide additional details, such as the specific error messages and the version of Trados Studio you are using, so I can assist you further.
