Merging two TMs which have different segmentation rules

Dear all, 
 I am using Trados Studio 2022 SR2 and I would like to merge two TMs which were built with different segmentation rules. 
 I understand the best way to do it is by exporting one of the TMs to a .tmx file and importing it in the other (please, confirm). If this is the case, would there be any loss of segments because or the different segmentation rules? Would the segmentation rules in the importing TM prevail? Which would be the best practice for this kind of operation?
