Project settings in Editor not accessible after updating Trados Studio 2021 to newest version

After updating Trados Studio 2021 to the newest version, I cannot access the project settings in the Editor anymore. I originally wanted to add an API key for an MT provider there. When clicking on the project settings button, I now receive the message "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation". I have tried various suggestions in the community but still get that error message. Could I get some help here?

Question improvement suggestion: Please provide the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any specific troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems you're encountering an issue with accessing project settings in Trados Studio after an update, which is resulting in the error message "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation." Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    **Step 1:** Verify the Version

Make sure you are using the latest version of Trados Studio. You can check this by going to Help > About Trados Studio. Ensure that your version is compatible with the World Server Compatibility Pack you have installed.

    **Step 2:** Check Project Selection

Ensure that you have an active project selected in the Projects view. The Project Settings button will only be active if a project is selected.

**Step 3:** Remove and Reinstall World Server Components

    1. Close Trados Studio.

    2. Go to Control Panel > Programs & Features and uninstall the World Server Components.

    3. Restart your computer if prompted.

    4. Reinstall the correct version of the World Server Compatibility Pack from the RWS AppStore that matches your version of Trados Studio.

    **Step 4:** Reset User Settings

    1. Close Trados Studio.

    2. Navigate to `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17` and rename the `UserSettings.xml` file to `old_UserSettings.xml`.

    3. Restart Trados Studio and check if the issue persists.

    **Step 5:** Clear Temporary Files

    1. Close Trados Studio.

    2. Press Windows + R, type `%temp%`, and delete all files and folders in the Temp directory.

    3. Restart Trados Studio.

**Step 6:** Check for Conflicting Settings

If you have multiple Translation Memories or Automated Translation providers, try removing them temporarily to see if that resolves the issue. You can do this by right-clicking on the project, selecting Project Settings, and navigating to Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please provide additional details about your Trados Studio version and any other troubleshooting steps you've attempted. This will help in further diagnosing the problem.
