Installation Package CHainer" is not working

Hello, people:) & Merry Xmas, sorry for bringing this about during the festive time, but  I have a problem reinstalling my Trados Studio 2015. I've removed it, because  it requesting me to deactivate the licence which I failed to do both via online  and offline options ( i got the message: Deactivation Failed. System Access Violation exception...) so when i was installing the software again it wasnt successful & I the following  message appeared: "Installation Package CHainer" is not working.  Could you pls advise what to do & how to cure my Trados? MANY THANKS.

    You could try running the installers directly from here:

    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLTradosStudio2015\modules\

    Just them all one at a time; I'm not sure if the order makes any difference but if it was me I'd do this:

    TranslationStudio4.msi
    TradosCompatibility2.msi
    WorldServerComponents.msi
    Studio-KB8124-SR1.1.msp
    WorldServerComponents-KB8124-SR1.1.msp

    If you're missing any of these, such as the last two, then don't worry as these are probably only there if you updated after the original installation and I'm not sure you got that far yet.

  • Dear Paul, many thanks for your prompt reply &sorry for my delay in responding - I was interneless:) on the weekend. All your recommendations worked, but now the Studio ( I have Trados Freelance 2015) "complains" - AN ERROR OCCURED WHILE RETRIEVING YOUR LICENSE. My attempts to deactivate the license failed again and i got the same message -Deactivation Failed. System Access Violation exception...). Dear Paul, any ideas? MANY THANKS AND BLESSINGS.

    It sounds as though your license activation got stuck for some reason and it's not available for you now.  The way around this is usually to contact support via the solution finder as below.  But as we're discussing this now I have actioned this for you.  If you still can't activate your license now as it's showing as available in your account then go to the Knowledgebase;

    http://kb.sdl.com

    Then go to the tab called Solution Finder and now here;

    Licensing Problems
    - I use SDL Trados Studio 2015 / SDL Passolo 2015
    -- I need to have my license reset

    Also use the Chrome browser to log the case if you have it; you'll get more success in completing the form, and make sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

    But as I said, please try to activate your license again now.
