Many thanks,

Question improvement suggestion: Please provide the exact steps you took before encountering the error, as well as any troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems you're encountering the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error while trying to analyze or pre-translate Excel files in Trados Studio 2024 SR1. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

**Step 1:** Ensure that your target language is set correctly.

    - Open Trados Studio.

    - Go to **File > Options > Editor > Languages**.

    - Make sure the target language is selected on the right side of the window.

    - Click **OK**.

    **Step 2:** Check for updates.

    - Go to the **Help** menu and select **Check for Updates** to ensure you are using the latest version of Trados Studio.

**Step 3:** Reset your Trados settings.

    - You can reset your settings by following the instructions in the SDL knowledge base article. This often resolves various issues.

**Step 4:** If the problem persists, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the Multilingual Excel File Type plugin.

    - Uninstall the current version of the plugin and then download and install the latest version from the RWS AppStore.

**Step 5:** As a temporary workaround, you might want to revert to an earlier version of Trados Studio, such as Trados Studio 2019 SR2 CU7, which has been reported to work without this issue.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide more details about the steps you took before encountering the error, and any troubleshooting steps you have already attempted. This will help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

  • Hi, I carefully followed your instructions and finally reset Trados settings, then I uninstalled and reinstalled the Multilingiual excel file type plugin but it did't solve the problem. I still have the same error : the object reference is not set to an instance.

    Please help me!

  • Hi ,

Your Trados is not updated, for Trados Studio 2024, this is version 18.1.3.6657; please check and update Trados as well.
