Error message - Attempted to read... See below

Good evening. After sorting out my problem with Deepl, I now have the following message "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." What can I do? I upgraded the 2 translation memories that I use regularly just before I started receiving this message. Can someone help? Many thanks

Question improvement suggestion: Please provide the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any specific steps you have already taken to troubleshoot the issue.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems you're encountering the error message "Attempted to read or write protected memory," which can indeed be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

**Step 1:** **Check for Corrupted Translation Memory**

    - Open the Translation Memory Management view in Trados Studio and check if the translation memory you are using is corrupted. If it is, you can try to repair it using the Repair option available in that view.

**Step 2:** **Use the SDLTM Repair Tool**

    - Download and install the SDLTM Repair tool from the RWS AppStore. This tool can help repair any issues with your translation memory.

**Step 3:** **Rename the Translation Memory Repository.xml**

    - Close Trados Studio and navigate to the following path on your computer:

     - For Trados Studio 2022: `C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Trados\SDL Trados Studio\Studio17`

     - Rename the file `Translation Memory Repository.xml` to `Translation Memory Repository_old.xml` and then restart Trados Studio.

    **Step 4:** **Check Permissions**

    - Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to access the translation memory files. Right-click on the file, go to Properties, and check the Security tab.

    **Step 5:** **Local Copy**

    - If your translation memory is stored on a network drive, try copying it to your local drive (C:\) and see if the error persists when using the local copy.

    **Step 6:** **Check for Updates**

    - Make sure that your Trados Studio is up to date. Regular updates can fix bugs and improve performance.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please provide more details about the specific actions you have taken and any additional error messages you may be receiving.
